Good, basic arguments have the following components:

Claims
1. Write an argumentative statement that takes a stand on an issue.
Respond to your arguments major objection with your claim. |

2. Include your main reasons in your claim.

3. Add qualifications to make your claim more reasonable and ensure your claim isn't exaggerated.

A QUALIFICATION is a phrase that sets limits on the strength of a statement. |
